About the pension
A place where generations meet
Pension RUT is a place where generations meet — not only our guests', but our own family's too. In 1926 my great-great-grandparents built this house. They raised their three sons here so that they too could return with their own children.
It is a genius loci more than anything else. Views and a nature with its own distinct character. It is the sunrise over the opposite shore and evenings at the bar on the terrace above the lake. It is the stars reflected on the water and the scent of the pine trees.
It is tranquillity just a short distance from Prague. An oasis in the heart of a popular destination.

Our history
The story of the Forman family
Anna and Rudolf Formanovi, parents of the world-renowned director Miloš Forman, were pioneers of tourism at Mácha Lake. In 1926 they built the first Czech pension here and laid the foundations of a tradition the family maintains to this day.
They raised three sons, weathered war and nationalisation, and after the revolution the pension was returned to the family. Today it is run by the fourth generation — a place where generations of guests and our own family continue to meet.
